
Zora Engalan is an artist informed by diasporic identity and her Filipino heritage, working primarily in darkroom photography as well as collage and mixed-media work. Born in Detroit to a creative mother and a father who immigrated from the Philippines to Detroit, her work focuses on themes of loss and change through time and place.
Engalan is pursuing a B.A. in Fine Arts and B.S. in Psychology at Wayne State University. Her work has been included in shows at Image Gallery on Four in Detroit, Michigan. She was awarded the 2022 John Clare Prize and the 2023 Tompkins Award for Poetry.
